Why opt for home care?
Home care can be especially helpful for older, painful or anxious pets who find travel and clinic visits stressful. It allows care to happen in a familiar environment and gives families privacy during end-of-life appointments.
How do I decide which service is best for my pet?
Contact us with a brief description of your pet’s needs. We can advise whether an in-home consultation, phone consultation, pain-management review or end-of-life appointment is the most appropriate first step.
I need a consultation — what is the process?
After you contact us by phone or email, we will take you through the booking process. New-client and pet details are collected, a suitable time is arranged, and payment is taken to secure the booking. Dr Su-en then attends your preferred address with the equipment required for the agreed service.
Please be available to help gently hold your pet if an injection is required.
I need my pet euthanased — what is the process?
After booking, Dr Su-en arrives at your preferred address and takes time to ensure everyone is settled. A sedation injection is given first, followed by IV cannula placement once your pet is deeply relaxed. The final medication is only given when you and your loved ones are ready. The appointment is never rushed.
Can I purchase medications for my pet?
The aim of Creature Comfort is not to replace your regular veterinary clinic, but to provide convenient support for long-term pain-management plans and selected ongoing treatments. A limited range of prescription medications may be stocked, but pharmacy prescriptions are not routinely written. Maintaining a relationship with your regular clinic remains important.
Do you offer payment plans?
No. As a small business, Creature Comfort is unable to offer payment plans. Payment is required before procedures or consultations. Accepted methods include bank transfer, card and cash. Card payments incur a 1.9% transaction fee.
What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common chronic condition in ageing pets. It develops through wear and change within joints and can cause pain, stiffness and reduced mobility. Both dogs and cats can be affected. OA cannot usually be “fixed”, but it can often be managed to improve comfort and function.
How do I know if my pet suffers from OA?
Dogs may show limping, stiffness after rest, gait changes, hesitation to jump, toileting changes or irritability when touched or picked up. Cats can be subtler: they may stop jumping, sleep stretched out instead of curled, groom less, develop matted fur or become more sensitive to handling.
A veterinary consultation is important to assess your pet and rule out other causes.
Is there anything I can start at home for my pet with OA?
Simple changes can help while you arrange veterinary assessment: provide non-slip surfaces, easy access to beds and food, reduce unnecessary jumping and keep your pet at a healthy weight. Do not give human pain medicines unless specifically directed by a veterinarian.
I am struggling with end-of-life decisions — how do I know if it is time?
It is one of the hardest decisions to make. Factors can include pain, mobility, ability to toilet, eating and drinking, personality changes, and whether your pet still has meaningful daily enjoyment. Many families find it useful to think in terms of “good days” and “bad days” over time.
